Question: is it a good idea to attach your website domain name to your WordPress blog domain name?
EG: "website domain name.wordpress.com"
I don't see answers to this one in the forum.
Anybody?

Yes, as long as you do not use the actual URL, just the name. You want to make sure it is a targeted keyword/phrase before doing so. Remember, if this is a great keyword, you want to use it as much as possible, even when building new sites :)

Thanks for that, Admin2. I'm using another keyword for the WordPress blog domain.. one that came up at Google keywords.
It's well targeted, and low competition[!]

Think about branding. Do you already have a short, catchy business name? If that domain is taken, remember to keep away from those dashes and just try to find a similar domain that’s available and go with that. Try to stay with a name that will stay true to your business and reflect what you’re trying to accomplish. - Make sure it’s easy to pronounce. Don’t use big words that your potential clients or customers won’t relate to. Unless they’re part of your initial business name, steer clear of them all together. Remember, you want your domain name to stick in the reader’s mind. - Make it fun! If you can at all, keep your domain name fun and creative. There’s no need it has to be boring – even if you feel your business is. Ever hear the saying “think outside of the box”? It rings true for domain names, too. The more fun it is, the more appealing it will be for folks to click on it and bookmark it for future reference. - Be unique. You’re unique, your business is unique, so your domain name should be unique as well. No one can be you. No one can do business exactly the way you do business. And, no one thinks exactly the way you do. Uniqueness is an ***et for any domain name. Lastly, relax. Choosing a domain name should be an exciting part of your business adventures. Be yourself and let your imagination run wild. Your business will thank you for your creativity. If you follow these simple steps you’ll be p***ing out business cards with your fabulous domain name on them soon.

Hi Patrick,

Very good post and good advice to enjoying what you do. Just a question as I am also new to all this. I have been told that if you are not able to get the domain name you want, then you should start using dashes and the sorts. Is there a reason why dashes souldn't be used as I use them in trying to get close to the domain name I am looking for but is taken.

Thanks
Teddy
