Just thought I would share this for the people
who may not be using this great tool.
Google Analytics is a great tool that helps you
keep track of your traffic for your websites and
blogs. This will paint a better picture for you
and help you dictate what you are doing well
and what you are not.
If you are not using Google Analytics, you are
missing out. Take advantage of it.
Hope this helps some people, best of luck.

I found that Google Analytics is great for beginners, 1 it,s free to use and 2 it tells you where you are going right and where you are going wrong.
Like i have found out whilst belonging to this forum KEYWORDS are so important to any product promotion and Google Analytics tells you if they are working or not.

That is certainly true even for advanced marketers. Keywords are key to the success of your campaigns and google analytics or any software that gives you stats is going to help you see what is working or not and what areas you need to target. :)

Also if you use WordPress there is a plugin called "WordPress.com Stats" which I find very useful. It tells you relevant info about your blog, where your traffic is coming from etc.

Having analytics on your site is a must, as you have to know were your traffic is coming from and what improvements have to be made, in order to reach out to more potential customers.
Google analytics is very easy to use cut and paste into the top of your webpages.

Great input Mark! If one does not have a tracking, how will one know what is working and what needs to be improved. Great tool! :)

Indeed!
I am always fascinated to learn where in the world my visitors are coming from -what brought them to me (keywords, referring sites, articles, etc...), what they look at while their on my site(s), how long they stay and the actions (or goals) that they complete while browsing.
All that information is helpful as I continue to hone my strategies and campaigns.
Analytics are an absolute must!

This is absolutely an awsome tool to have in your corner. I don't know how anyone in business online could live without it. It shows you which places you are advertising at is doing the best, and which ones you could leave behind. This essentially will free up a great deal of your time to focus on the more important issues of your business.
It ROCKS and will definately increase your sales margin.

Hi Jennifer,
You are absolutely right in this tool helping to utilize valuable time. Without such tools more time is spent on trying to figure things out, then what needs to be done formost.
Its great to have you with us:)

I figured out the problem. It is fixed. Yippee! I had already had quite a few views on this lens, but unfortunately they wouldn't have been able to click on the link if they tried. Now they can.

I have a couple of questions about Google Analytics.
What does the Bounce Rate mean?
Can you add Blog or Lens pages to be analyzed? I believe you can, but I'm not sure how you are supposed to go about adding the code to these pages in order for Google Analytics to analyze them.

The bounce rate will tell you the percentage of visits from when a person (visitor) left your site from the actual landing page (which is your website, blog, etc.) It also measures the quality of your site and if you have a high bounce rate, it’s pretty much telling you that whatever was on your site wasn’t relevant to what your visitor(s) were looking for. If you have a lower bounce rate, it is more likely your visitors are sticking around longer and is more relevant to what they are searching for, gives you more quality traffic, which is more likely to turn into sales.
It is all about the keywords you choose, the quality of your content, and a great product and you should get sales!
If you own your website, you can use google analytics on it. You can also use it on your blogs. You can't use it on Squidoo because they have their own tracking system by going under stats.
Google Analytics will help you with your online marketing campaigns to give you reports on who is coming to your sites, where they are coming from, and how long they stay on. This is a great tool which will help you tweak your sites if they are performing well or not.
Good questions Jennifer! :)

O.K. I finally have my Bounce Rate going down some now, so now what? Should I just wait and continue to check the Rate daily to see how it is doing. If it starts going back up again, tweak things more. I know you said that the lower the Bounce Rate the better things are going, so what is a decent average bounce rate? I think mine is still a little to high. I'm not really sure where to begin as far as trying to tweak things more. I have changed up keywords, etc. and used everything that I can think of. Do you have any other suggestions?

Hi Jennifer,
Your blog looks good: it's nice and clean and you have plenty of quality keywords relevant to your business. You may want to consider adding a bit more 'meat' to your blog posts :)
Give your visitors a bit more interesting information to read and look through and they will be more likely to stick around, ya know?
Posts between 250 and 400 words seem to work very well.
It just takes a little bit of time -but it looks like you're well on your way.
Keep at it! You're doing just fine :)

Thanks for checking out my blog. I appreciate any input that I can get. In regards to adding more "meat" to it, should I just maybe write a few short articles to post on the site. Can you give me any examples to work with or should I just write the posts regarding general information on my niche? Should I put links on every post or should I leave some without links.
I have just recently added a You Tube gadget to it regarding videos geared toward my niche. I heard that this can help your rankings in Google, and it also gives visitors more information to explore.
I guess I am just fishing for as much information as I can get on how to improve my visibility and rankings.

You're doing fine! It just takes some time -that's all.
Not every blog post has to have a link. That tends to look a little spammy. Give your visitors some good solid information sometimes -without trying to 'sell' them.
For instance, your products are work at home opportunities and you have said (in another post) that you are investing 8+ hours a day writing articles to promote your business.
Well, by now you have probably learned a few tricks to being productive and you probably have some things to share with people who want to work from home, right?
Sharing some of your tips at running a successful home based business would make for interesting reading -wouldn't it? I think it would...
Here's something for you...
Since you use Blogger, check out this cool software that helps you blog more productively. It's called RocketPost and it's free.

Try it out....Maybe you could share your experience with others?
The Internet is full of people trying to 'make the sale' -and that's fine. But the truly successful entrepreneur gives something of value to everything they do.
Focus on giving value -over-delivering, the sales will come naturally in time.

You don't really have to check it daily, but maybe once a week would be good, Jennifer. Unless you are getting large amounts of traffic. You will do just fine. :)
