View Full Version : Promoting Clickbank Products 101

In choosing a product it’s vital to pay attention to 4 facts.

Four of these facts are a part of the product description and are as follows:

$ Sales- This points to how much your commission amount will be for every affiliate sale

% Sales- This percentage refers to the percentage of the product sales price $/Sale represents (The $Sales is usually more important)

% Refd - This percentage refers to the percentage of the sales of the product coming from affiliate sales

Grav- The Gravity of a product is a measure of how many affiliates are promoting it. This is usually one of the most important factors in deciding to promote a certain product.

However, the far most important basis for choosing a clickbank affiliate product is the conversion rate. The conversion rate simply implies to how many visitors out of a certain number buy the product. So for example, if 2 out of every 200 visitors to a sales page buys the product, then ultimately you end up having a 2% conversion rate.

The question that can be nagging though is how do you find what the conversion rate for a product is? Well by looking at products in the Clickbank market, you can identify certain key aspects.

1.) “Gravity”& it’s Significance : As mentioned before, the gravity is the measure to how many affiliates are promoting a product. Every clickbank product is marked by a “gravity” number, which is often on the far right, under the product title. This “Gravity” number represents how well the clickbank product is converting for affiliates. Therefore, the higher the gravity number, the better the product is converting. Also, it is important to avoid extremely high gravity numbers as these indicate an extremely high competition, so aiming for a gravity number of (example) 71.43 to 125.22 would be a good idea. This would mean the product has proven itself but the competition is low enough to still succeed in. As well, attempt to find a refund rate that is lower than 3% or 2% as this will also increase the chances of not getting refunds and keeping profit.

2.) Merchant’s Sales Copy: Questions to keep in mind is how good is the sales copy? Will it convert as much as you would like? Are the colors annoying, or are they subtle and engaging enough to make sales and get the point across? Overall, its important to have an idea of the sales page as to whether it will attract attention from the buyers perspective.
3.) Other Key factors in deciding if a Clickbank Product is a great fit:

a.) Make sure the $/Sale is greater than $20. If this number is lower than that it will be tough to profit from techniques such as Google Adwords or other paid advertising.
b.) As mentioned before shoot for gravity that is anywhere between 50 or 70 between 100 to 120. Anything lower than these numbers would indicate that this certain product isn’t popular enough and will not sell well. In addition, any numbers higher than 100 will indicate that this product is too popular and thus the competition is ridiculously high.

Just knowing the basics of the Clickbank MarketPlace can be a starting point in finding high converting products.

cb analytics is a good one to use. Especially for new products - getting them before anyone else does. :)

Can someone elaborate on the best ways to promote ClickBank Products. I know you can use Squidoo articles to do so, and I know that Ezine Articles prohibits the use of the actual ClickBank URL's in any form or fashion and you have to link to something else like your blog in order to promote a Clickbank product from Ezine.

Is there any other suggestions on how to promote these products for the most results.

Sure!! You can promote through forum signatures, article marketing, Cl***ified Ads, Social bookmarking, and comments on other blogs and lenses :)

You can create your own blogs, such as using Wordpress too! :)

Hi Mods 1 and 2 it's been a long time since I do not get back here.

I am very pleased I always find good information here and it feels very good finding people helping each other. The clickbank explanation above was great.

Sometimes we have to read a guide several times in order to set up the way we will be undertaking our businesses and the two common problems I find in the majority of people me included is hesitation and procrastination.

So Constant Action is the key for us to really achieve what we want...

Jennifer ~

I tend to test things on Squidoo or another blog format before I do an all out campaign on it. I want to see if I can at least get any traffic... sales would be nice but at least if I am getting traffic, I can expand on that. You can do this with any Clickbank product, whether you have tried it yourself or not.

Hope this helps! :D

Thank you. That is a great idea to test the waters before doing an all out campaign on it. The only problem I am having right now is deciding which backlinks to put where. I don't know whether to put my blog link, my website link, a clickbank link, etc. I am still working on that some.

Keep in mind Jennifer that Squidoo only allows so many links within your lens. You can add links to one site and then add a module for "Featured Sites". This is where you can also send them to one of your other sites if within the same niche. :)

Thanks. I just recently had one that was not approved. That may be the very reason why. I will see if making that change will work.

Re-read their policy about the links. They are major sticklers on them. I had to do that the other day and right after I removed one (for which I had 9 total) I was good to go and my publishing went through. Go figure at 8 lol :)

Linking can be tricky, but once you do a few more articles, lenses, and blogs it will become second nature. :)

Link your (relevant) lenses, articles, blogs, ads, and press releases to your website. Make sure that in your lens you have a strong call to action at the end (this is where most use the big arrow module) but you can use anything there as long as you are using your anchor text wisely. Link those things above to each other, but make sure you have your one way links to your website for sure.

Once your articles are approved or your lens or blog is published, ping it! I have found it helps most of the time!

Create a mindmap for yourself or a checklist of sorts so that you do the same thing for each campaign... at least that is what works for me! :D

Hope this helps! :D

Hi, I've just started using clickbank and myaffiliatesite.com. However I am struggling with promoting my products because I don't really know where to place the ads for them. Could someone help me by explaining to me where the best places are to put my promotions to maximise my profits. Thanks,
Daniel Warren

Hi Daniel,

In promoting vendors products there are many ways of doing this. You can use article marketing, cl***ified ads, blogs, forum posting (cannot be spam, you need to participate with other members by providing valuable information). These are some of the main ways:)

So like what I've done now by placing the promotions on my signature is that right. Also by providing valuable information, are you saying that rather than just saying "here's the product, now buy it" just converse with other people and allow them to click the link when they want to??? Btw do you promote products as well, if you do how many blogs and forums do you suggest I sign up to??

Daniel,

For your forum signature you can make it look more attractive. This should be a clickable link using the keywords to the product. Here is the formula and works for all forums

[ url=http://YOURWEBSITEURL]What you want it to say[/url]

"What you want it to say" will be the visiable clickable link.

Forums are a place to share tips, experiences and thoughts. It should not be a place to spam what you are promoting. Most forums will have a designated area for you to list your product that you are promoting.

As far as blogs? You should have at least 1 for each niche. When building these blogs make sure you are using targeted keywords.

Let us know if you have further questions:)
