O.K. I have recently been researching the topic of Flipping Your Blog or Website for a profit. This is something that you can actually make quite a bit of profit with, if you do it right. However, it will take work to get a particular site to a point that it is worthy enough to be sold.
From what I understand so far, after getting it all set up, the main thing is to get your traffic stats up a high as you can possibly get them and also get the page rank on the first page of the Search Engines. From this point, you will be able to sell the site for a decent profit.
This is a goal that I have set for myself for sometime in the future. However, the profit I am going to make from selling the site/s will have to surp*** the income that is already being made from the site for it to be worth selling it.
Does anyone else have any ideas on this?

Once one is able to figure out all the ways to market a site, this is really a great venture to look into. If you enjoy building sites this is a way to go. This is also an area of knowing the niches that are popular. There is always someone looking for sites:)

Yes, traffic is key here. The potential buyers do want to see that it is getting a good amount of traffic. No real set number, just some traffic. Keep us posted on how it goes. :)

I use flippa and sitepoint (mostly flippa) but most places (I am sure you know this already) you have to own the site... meaning you have to buy a domain and hosting for it. This is a very profitable way to go and you don't have to do much to it... but as the Mods said... traffic is what everyone looks for although, I have seen some go with none... I have had some interest in brand new sites I did with no traffic but expect to only get about 50 or 75 USD for it... but if you do a bunch of those, it's well worth it... you can usually get 125ish with very little traffic (my opinion that's worth it... let it go for a couple weeks, get the traffic and sell it.)
It does cost money to put it up in the marketplaces but again usually worth it for the profits!
Best of luck to you and your flipping! I love it myself! :D

I still got some things to work out and look into before I can actually start doing this, but I am looking forward to making this another form of income. Thanks for your insight KitKat.

OMG.....I just had to tell someone this. I am so excited. I was just messing around tonight looking up some of my keyword phrases for my sites on Google to see where they were at. I looked up one of my keyword phrases that I used that is highly competitive. I really wasn't expecting to see much because of the fact that it is so highly competitive with a gazillion hits on it. It was already at the number 5 slot on the first page of Google.
I guess I know now why this site has been getting so many more hits this last week. I am absolutely blown away by this. I have written a few articles with this site linked to them, but have mostly just continued to add content daily and used social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook, yahoo buzz, google buzz, etc. every day along with pinging every day.
This particular site is not making any money right now, but still.
YIPPEEEEEEE!

Well, this site has moved up another slot since my last post a couple of days ago. It is now in the # 4 slot instead of the # 5 slot on the first page of google for that highly searchable keyword term.
I'm not sure I quite understand how this has happened so fast, but I hope I can keep it that way. The only thing that I know I did differently was changed up some of my keyword terms. I guess that had a little to do with it. LOL.

That is wonderful Jennifer! :)
Just know that it can come and go with no warning, but if you keep it fresh (and remember to ping after updates) you have a good chance of dominating that spot!

Its hard to really determine with Google. But as Mod1 suggested, keep it updated and continue with your backlinking, social sites, etc.
Its such a nice feeling to see all your hard work right there on the front page:)

I am making sure to add new content daily to this site. I have several articles out right now linking back to it, but I do need to get more out there. I have just been working on several things and building up my traffic. I am also pinging, pinging, pinging to about 3 different ping sites every single day on each of the sites I have going right now.
Thanks for all the motivation. I feel like with the visitors to this site and being in the position that it is in that maybe at some point, I will start making a little extra cash on this one.

Jennifer ~
Sounds like you have a good set of keywords! That's great! I have been using SEO Link Vine (link in my signature) to get free content to my blogs. It is working great. In my opinion you still want to update it with fresh content, but this is another way to do it. You can also get articles and stuff, but if you are looking for free content, check it out. You can set it to how much you want or not too.
Hope this helps! :D

Thanks for the info on this. I am currently using an article spinner that I get automated content from, but I will definately check this site out too. You never know when something may turn out to be better.

You're welcome! I am torn as well.. but still use both... I think I might like the seo link vine better though... I think there are just more and possibly better options. Just my opinion though. :D

Just thought I would update you on this. This site is now up to the number 3 slot. I want to change the name of this particular site, because when I first set it up I did not get my own domain name. My question is though, will this affect the search engine status and people being able to find it. I do not want to mess up what I already have going with it, but I want to be able to sell this site at some point down the road.
For example: If I get my own domain name and have it hosted thru hostgator, can I point the old name to the new domain name and it not affect anything? If so, how would I go about accomplishing the redirect?
Any suggestions.
