RSS = Really Simple Syndication

It is a way websites and blogs to share headlines and stories from other sites. Internet surfers can use sophisticated news readers to surf these headlines using RSS aggregators. This will help your lens rank as well by the way!

Also for squidoo'ers - use and sign up for lensroll. This is another way to help get lens rank - it's sort of an RSS just for squidoo. (You can still put and RSS Feed on your lens too.)

Here are a couple of squidoo lenses that have some good explanations on what RSS is and how to add it to your lenses and blogs, etc.

Also for your Wordpress blogs:

I hope this will help everyone! :)

If you are just starting out, this will be one to really take notice and start applying early on. Otherwise once you start building your business, you will have to go back and do to all :)

I've read quite a bit of information about RSS and I'm still not quite understanding how to set it up. I guess I need to do some more studying on it. I'm sure it would help the traffic to my sites.

Megan it also depends on which application you are wanting to add it to. If you have a specific one, we might be able to help.

Great blog Forum Admin 2! :)

There are some great tools to tap the power of RSS.

I use it in a number of different ways.

1. submit RSS feeds of your sites to RSS directories
2. Add an external RSS widget content to our site, blog, lens etc
3. Use the RSS feed from your blog in your lense and vs versa (not at the same time)
4. In self hosted wordpress use a plugin to have posts or pages with RSS content
5. In self hosted wordpress use a plugin to automatically create posts from RSS content
6. Use feed syndicaters such as feedburner and feedage to track subscribers to your site

There are more but those are most commonly used.

Any questions ;-)
