Hey guys,
just wondering what the ideal keyword density would be for SEO articles/lenses. I've heard its around 3%. Is this right?
Thanks,
srama3 :)

I have heard mixed signals on using keyword density. It does provide some varied results, but 2-3% is best. I feel the best way to use your keywords is doing it naturally. Make sure it is in your title and 1st paragraph and let the rest flow. :)

Also making sure that you have strong anchor text is important. :)

Using an anchor link is normally a clickable link to another web page. You can use your keyword/phrase which is an indication of what a visitor can expect when when they click upon the link.:)

Here is a post that will explain it better:

I think I finally understand what anchor text is but don't know what you mean by strong?

Majority of the time you want it to be something that the visitor would want to click on. I tend to use my keyword/phrase and the name of my product for visitors to click through for more information. :)

Does anyone know if a keyword phrase like "employment opportunity" is too broad? Phrases like this seem to be getting a lot of searches right now with the state of the economy, definitely more searches than the names of individual programs for sale. I was trying a combination of broad and specific terms within each article.

Any pointers? Am I trying to take on too much competition?

This is a highly competitive term to use with paid advertising and everything else. It will be tough to break through :)

Thanks for the tip.

How many keywords do you usually try to use per article. I've been doing three or four, and once again I'm wondering if I'm overdoing it.

Thanks again!

I normally add mine to every other paragraph. I know others may use theirs differently, but it works for me:)

My home page has a kw density of 23% for one of my main terms. This is a content site but the density for this term is high because it is included in the sites title, is the main keyword and is the name of the area. I'm not worried about this being too high but I am concerned about the two word phrase taht occurs 43 % of the time. Is that too high or does it not matter with multiple word phrases.

As far as I know there should not be a penalty that may be ***ociated with keyword density in google. I am thinking that they ignore this after a certain percentage. I could be wrong so someone correct me here if I am.

If your site is doing well, I would not worry to much at this time.:)

After I read this thread I feel a little more confident about the first two articles I wrote! Before I wrote the articles I did a google keyword search and made a note of all the keywords that were used the most!
These keywords I used in the title and in the first paragraph of the main body. But Not necesarilly in the first line of the body! I think you have to be somewhat creative with your articles. I felt a little uneasy at first with this, I am not used to writing much at all. Athough after reviewing my first articles I did feel a sense of achievement. I used the keywords as best I could throughout the articles and believe I made them flow.
It would be nice to have someone critique them for me! Any advice on great search engine worthy articles would be apprieciated!

You sound like you pretty much have it figured out. The most important part of writing articles is the flow and content you are providing. Did you submit these to ezine? This is the best place to submit articles. Search engines, expecially google loves this site.

To get ideas on how or even what to write, pull up articles in ezine. This gives you added information on products and different kinds writing styles :)

Wow. That is a lot of keywords. Usually, you don't want more than 3-6% in a webpage in case Google gets testy about keyword spamming.

A good way you can tell if your page will rank on page 1 is to type your keyword phrase into the Google search bar in quotes.

e.g. "baby girl booties"

If you come up with 20,000 searches or less, you score a very high chance of ranking on page 1. 20,000 - 50,000 a little less high. 50,000 to 100,000 less high. 150,000 - 200,000 really hard. Beyond 200,000 you can forget.

But that's still not an indicator if your keyword is getting traffic. That's only an indicator of your likelihood of ranking highly. Remember, the keyword tools are only estimates. They're not accurate data.

Thanks All,

This is a really helpful post! I have been using keywords about every 100 words, I guess I can step it up a bit!

Thanks,

TSF
