Hi all, I'm new to this whole clickbank thing. I've tried it a little bit, but does it actually work? Does anyone have any advice on how to make money with it? It seems like a long shot to hope that your link will actually be seen and selected online. Has anyone had any luck with this, and do you have any advice for a newbie?

To make your clickbank product a success, it will take other skills of learning in how to pick a product to promote, keyword research, and techniques needed to promote this product at all different angels of affiliate marketing.:)

Yes it does work but as admin. pointed out, there are a lot of things you must take into consideration that was mentioned.
If you pick a product that people are looking for and then show it to them, what are the chances that they will buy it? It pretty high. That is what it is all about in a nutshell.

Just make sure you pre-sell the product when promoting. As I mentioned in another post, you should get to know the product as much as possible and own it. :)

This is very true... even if you are not able to purchase the product, doing as much research as possible on it as if you were... it's best to know the products as much as you can.... =)

I will also have to say that it definitely works, however, you can't just
randomly pick a product and start promoting it. You need to learn certain
skills, and then take action. Another important point is to not get discourage
and instead keep a positive and persistent attitude.

As mentioned, research is a the key factor in choosing an online product to promote. Read and learn all you can about this product to see if it is a worthwhile product that people would like to invest in. Once you have done all this and know what people to target, use all the free ways of affiliate marketing to get your traffic towards your site:)

I understand that there are 2 ways to go about AM. Finding a niche first, and look for an affiliate product that meets the criterai, or search for a product directly. How are you going about this?

Great question Roseanne!
If one is unsure of what niche, they make take the route of just finding a product to promote and start their marketing. I know for newbies, this is a common way to begin their learning process.
Within my own searching, I had always found it easier to know my niche first and then look for my product to promote. For me this provides the easiest direction one should take. That way you can branch out with your products instead of bouncing around with multiple niches:)

What I've been doing is looking at the product, then doing a search online for the product name with the word 'review' after it, or 'scam'. It seems to work for finding folks that either really like the product or hate it.

As pointer out by many earlier post. Keypoints include:
-Finding a niche (Preferably an area of interest to you)
-Going thru clickbanks list and making sure products in your area of interest do sell well
-Understand terms in clickbank like $/sale, Future $: -, Total $/sale, %/sale, %refd, grav. (Knowing this will help in arriving at the right product to sell)
-Do a search on google with the main words/ name (keywords) of the product that interest you.
-If you see all links provided has the name of the product then the competition is high to get the sale. however it could also be seen as a product that sells really well.
These are just merely a summary of what has been mentioned so far. However, you can also try selling the products thru your personal blog if you do have 1. I know of friends who blog about their daily life and routines and has a lot of readers and followers. Basically to sum it up if she makes a note on a product on her blog, many of the readers would be aroused and click on the product to see and know what its about.
So blogging can help sales of clickbank products too. Lastly clickbank can be the bestway to help sell your own product if you have 1 already that you think is off real value or in the midst of creating 1 of really good value.

Lots of great information. You need to do your research on the product and its competition just don't get bogged down in the research. If you spend all your time researching and none actually writing articles and promoting your site you won't make any money. I think that's where a lot of people either fail or dropout.

Good add on there buckwild. But doing what you mentioned are just 1 part, there are many other task that needs to be completed too in order to see the traffic flowing onto your sites.

I understand the idea of promotion, but how does traffic increase to you websites, other than keywords, and linking it to other sites? Are traffic exchanges any good for this?

You increase your traffic by writing articles, ads, forums, etc. When you are using all of these combined and sending them to your websites you are building up backlinks to all of your sites if they are linked together. :)

Good advice from Forum Admin 2 - traffic exchanges I imagine work for some, but haven't really heard good things about them. That is something you may have to research further as well as getting input from other members who have experience using them. You can't go wrong using the techniques mentioned above. :)

Research is definitely key to the success. I've quickly found that promoting a product you're p***ionate about is important to be able to market it successfully. If you have a hobby, simply try to focus on that to make some head way and become comfortable with the affiliate marketing process. Once you attain that certain comfort level you'll feel much more capable when branching off to what may result in higher financial successes.

The further I get into IM, the more I realize how important research is. With the internet available to more and more people, as a whole, people will do their own research instead of relying on family, friends, ads, commercials etc. There is so much information out there that people get lost and our job is to understand what they are looking for specifically, and then put the product in front of them. To do that, we need to know what they want and why they want it.
So...I need to get back to my research.

Rosa,
It is very easy to get distracted. It happens to all of us probably more often than not. Try and stay focused, come back here if you need help with anything. :)

When researching products, I understand to start out with products that you know and are interested in. But what if those products are not selling? You will need to find the products that are selling. Which means that you are going to have to learn about the product.
Obviously you are not going to purchase every product you want to promote especially if you are just beginning and don't have much to invest. But if you want to give and honest review about products it is wise to try the product that you are promoting.
Or you could just do as much research on the product as you can by just seeing what others are saying about the product though a google search.
I have heard of people creating a different email account using a pen name and contact the owner/company of the product you want to promote using that pen name. You would just write a letter explaining that you are intersted in promoting the product and would like to request a review copy of the product. If the product is not what you expected then you don't have to reply to the company and just move on to the next product. I think this strategy works for digital products that are just starting out and don't have too many affiliates promoting it yet.

I too have heard of people doing this. But have not really heard to much of the outcome and if it was successful :)
