Hello, I'm new to all of this making-money-online stuff. From my understanding, you can make an account at clickbank, find a product, use the hoplink, and include the hoplink on other websites to get people to use your site to buy the product. Does this sound about right? I feel like I'm missing something in the middle there, and I don't want to keep doing this if I'm doing it wrong! If anyone has any advice, I'd be really happy to hear it.

Once you decide on your product, you will decide how you would like to promote this product. You can do this by building a lens, blog, UsAd, website, or even by using articles.
If you want to directly to the vendor's website an byp***ing your sites, you can use the ads, or articles. If you want them to come to your website first, you can use all techniques above.
Let me know if this helps:)

Yes you have the main idea. Admin. pointed out some more ways you can spread the word about the product you promoted. Clickbank gives you two hoplinks. The top one you can use in your articles, ads, etc and the bottom one you can add it in your website if you have one. Which ever you do or even if you do both is your choice. The more quality links you have to your product the better chances you have a making a sale.

Make sure that you do research on the product you are promoting, finding keywords - doing the research on that. You can find keyword tools that our members recommend here: http://www.make-money-online-forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=114.
Articles, ads, and blogs are all good ways to get quality traffic as has been mentioned.
Keep us updated on your progress. :)

Just don't fall into the trap (like I did) of thinking that just because you have a website up, people will go flocking to it and buy your product. It's really important that you put effort into marketing it like they're saying in the posts above this one ;-) Those are all good suggestions; give them a shot. Don't be shy!

Alcederb is perhaps looking for the general concept to the whole internet marketing money making concept in general.
In simplify words you are missing out on the traffic generation part which is what the other forumers are mentioning above.
You could have the best website created to sell your products or even other peoples products but you have to find a way to now get people to come to your website and see that you have those products for sale.
So the key in success is the ability to generate constant flow of visitors coming to your website and then getting the opportunity to close some sales in the process.
Hope its informational enough.

Also having updated content on your blogs, lenses, ads, etc. will help keep things fresh and the search engines will rank these better. :)

That could definately be the reason Andrea. There is a lot of competition out there for a lot of keywords and phrases. Are you looking up your keywords with a keyword tool? What is your competition? :)

As mentioned, if you are using keywords that are highly competitive, you may not find your sites on the 1st or even the 2nd page of google.
This is a great link that explains quite a bit about keywords and how to pick and use them. :)

Since some people are already on the topic of keywords, I'll jump right in.
What would you say the average number of keywords is for promoting a product?
At the moment I use about 30 per product as recommended in the Bum Marketing Method e-book, and about 10 per article/advertisement. I also try to mention each keyword at least 3-5 for better SEO.
Any thoughts or advice anyone?

There is always a debate on what this should actually be. Here is another great link that might help explain this:

Nice Volybal3. I might have to tweak my strategies a bit. When I write an article I usually concentrate on 1 to 2 keywords that I know I will get optimized for. My general rule of thumb is that If I am using Ezine and there is 1500 - 2000 pages out there with the exact phrase, I can hit either the 1st 2nd or 3rd spot.
With websites I try to optimize over a more board range of keywords. Probably close to 30 or so.
Volybal3, how is this working out for you? Do you find that it takes you a long time to write each article?
Thanks for the insight!

Promotion is a key component of the marketing mix today. Find the right keywords which have less competition.
