Hi All,

I Just read a statistic that 25% of Americans smoke Cigarettes and 80% of them want to quit. Any smokers out there and how many times have you tried to quit?

Thanks!

TSF

I smoked for about 7 years and tried to quit several
times. I would say I tried to quit 5-8 times, until I
finally just got sick of it. Now, it has been a year and
2 months since I quit, and let me tell you... this is
so much better.

I personally am not a smoker, but I can sure sympathize with the people who smoke and do their best to quit. I've heard a rather bizarre item: that the nicotine in your system actually craves more nicotine. Seeing how modern research is uncovering so much interesting information, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if it were true!

Funny you should ask this now, TSF! My Mom just quit on the 21st of May and still doing pretty good!

I myself am not and never have been a smoker... sorry to say, but it is so gross not to mention bad for you and everyone around. Plus, after I had my baby ~ all I heard about was third hand smoke ~ babies getting it! Through hair, skin contact, clothes, etc.... ewwwww not my baby!!!

I understand it is addicting... but I hope that anyone who wants to quit does... you will live a much healthier life! Good luck to all! :)

There are alot of different ways why a person smokes. I know 2 people who smoke to calm them down. Its not that they need to smoke, but for some reason they can take a couple of puffs to calm their nerves and put it out.

Strange how people react to smoking:)

I was a long time smoker, and still do occasionally. It is very addictive, but if you decide you don't want it, you can control it. Now it's way to expensive.

I know I have already comment on this post, however, I think this
is very important. You want to know why it is extremely difficult for
someone to quit smoking??? Here is a crazy fact.

Unlike most other drugs, Nicotine stays in you body for about a year
even after you quit smoking. Fat cells store the nicotine in your body,
so you are constantly addicted to it. Now, the worst part comes when
you decide to exercise, or do any sort of physical activity where the body
sweats. If the Nicotine is stored in you body even while you do mild
physical activity, your body re-releases it from your fat cells and that's
what gives people those crazy cravings and make it so hard for them
to quit.

Hopefully now that you know this, you will be able to prepare mentally
for it.

Best of luck,

Thank you for that piece of information. You know that old saying "You learn something new everyday" Well guess what E.C., that is something I did not know. Makes me soooo glad that I did not follow in my siblings footsteps:)

I have never be a smoker, and hope to never ever start smoking. TSF, I know that you are marketing this electronic cigarette. I'm a psychotherapist. Smoking is an addiction with two components, one is the substance, nicotene, and the other is behaviour. With selling this product you are tackling only one issue of the problem, the behaviour remains unchanged.

I finally quit smoking about two years ago. I got bronchitis and literally couldn't smoke anymore without almost hacking to death. I had tried to quit numerous times before, even succeeding for months at a time. But, it wasn't until it actually made me sick that I stopped.

It's such a hard habit to kick in general. It's still the first thing I want to do when I get really sad or frustrated. I've actually found it really helpful to funnel some of that energy into doing my online marketing. It can be pretty addictive, only it's not bad for you and can't hurt your body.

Thanks for posting this thread. I think it's important for people to talk about stuff like this.
