Fairly new to this industry and find myself struggling with pictures. How to get them (with whatever backlink or thread or copyright or whatever it is I need) and also once I get them how do I know what size will be accepted. I've found that each site, squidoo, website, forum is different. I can't seem to get any photos to be accepted, even in my bio's. I also have my own pictures I would like to use, I have GIMP and can size them but then how and where to store for access.
Also would like a more simplified version of how to place a picture IN text like in squidoo.
Anyone with more information?

I normally save my pictures in a folder inside my documents. Most sites will let you know what size they will accept, expecially after they declined your photo by saying it was to big. I use personal and other free pictures that I locate on the internet.

Also would like a more simplified version of how to place a picture IN text like in squidoo

Is this for GIMP?

You can use photosharing sites that host your images such as flickr and photobucket. There are others but these are just two that people are using. They will give you the html codes that you can place in your sites to make them clickable as well. :)

Hey, still not with you. I've looked at flickr and if I down load to a picture file, which I've done, how is it that I give credit. Is is done automatically or something I have to do? Also I've uploaded my own pictures, edit with GIMP and still cannot get them to take anywhere. This is a techy thing and my weakest point in the whole IM thing. Any suggestions?

In terms of pictures, I usually get overwhelmed and freaked out because the technology intimidates me. I try to figure it out by myself, but it just makes me crazy. What I have to do is find someone who knows how to upload photos to the web and have them sit with me for a half-hour or so. Once they show me and I practice a couple of times in front of them, I usually have it figured out.

You can grab any teenager with a myspace page and get a decent tutorial to get more familiar with everything.

As far as giving others credit, you can just use free photos from the web or your own pics. If you find something free online while searching Google Images, just right click on the image and save it to your computer. Most of these images are already sized, which is helpful.

Good luck!

I've found a website with a list of free stock photos that you can click,

I just took a look at this site. Very interesting. Here is a quote they wrote about using their stock photos they had put together:

The solution in this case is finding free stock photos something that isn’t always easy. In order to make this process easier I have compiled a list over the years with sites that offer free stock photos, open-sources images and photography to help you creating stunning designs without spending a dollar. The wesite list is long and I am sure you will find the perfect image you are looking for.

Thank you for sharing Roseanne:)

Another question. Where can I find info on making pictures clickable or as a link? I came across it somewhere but...ah...didn't copy it or bookmark.
