Andrea, you can build anything you would like, but if you do not direct traffic to it, it will just sit there like a bump on a log. You have to direct traffic to all your sites. This is accomplished by articles, ads, blogs, etc. All of these need to be pointing to your websites. If they are the same niches, then point them also to each other for more back links :)

Can anyone give me a general idea of how many articles, blogs, lenses etc before there are any results? I understand that it's different for everyone and every niche and its depends on your keyword and content but there has to be some kind of general number (100? more?) or level that seems to be working for people.
Any one care to share what worked for them?

You pretty much answered your own question. Everyone is differnet in how and what they promote to be able to make money online. Some see sales within a month, while others may take 6 months. The best advice to give, is do your research on your products you are promoting. Are they in demand? Is there plenty of content in the search engines that keep this product going? Is it something you are interested in?
There are many ways to promote. The more you use these tools the better traffic you will receive. :)

So, a question about back links because I'm not sure how important they are...
If I have squidoo pages, ezine articles, blogs, GoArticles etc. out there and they are all in the same niche but talking about a few different products, then I should link them all together? Or just the ones talking about the same product. And...if two articles are about the same product and have very similiar keywords, should they still be linked? Seems like I would be sending the reader in cirlces. Is my thinking skewed? Can you even call it thinking?
Anyone with clarification for this newbie?

No, you do not want to send any customer in circles. If you have a squidoo lens, put your other websites in another module if they are the same niche. You can even add your ezine articles to your lens so that a customer can click on your link and read your other articles.
You can also link an article to 2 different sites. I tend to place 2 links in my articles, 1 to and ad, and the other to my website.
Just some added suggestions :)

You are so funny! Forum Admin 2 is right... you don't intentionally want to send your visitors in circles. That could be frustrating. I like to think of it as giving them more information. You can have a link from your lens to your website and an article from your lens to an ad or press release and to the vendor directly if you want. There are many ways to do it. You can create your own Mind Map! :D

If you are just starting out Ziggy it may take a little bit to see your website in google. So if you have only a few articles out, they need to be great keywords to bring them to the front page. This is why it is important to do your research for keywords and good products to promote. The more traffic you produce to your websites the more exposure the search engines will pick up.:)

Yeah thanks I appreciate that.
Writing lots of articles about the same product can become a bit frustrating. What is your theory about what duplicate content really means?

Duplicate content is when you are either using the same article that you wrote and submitted already to one or more of the submission sites,or that someone else used without permission on their site. Either way, Google and the other search engines do not like duplicate content.
You can use a free service like www.dupefreepro.com (http://www.dupefreepro.com) to make sure that your article is changed at least 30%. I would go a little more just in case. :)

I read this article in another forum about duplicate content.
http://affiliate-marketing-forums.5staraffiliateprograms.com/search-engine-marketing-seo-forum/7275-duplicate-content-s-not-what-you-think.html
What are your thoughts on this?

This what also brought into this forum by sweetestmiracle awhile back too. My thought is if you can write original content each time, you will be better off.
A while back, I posted one of my articles on my lens, my ratings dropped drastically. Once I took it off my lens, my ratings were back up within a week.
Original is best, but it is up to you on how you want the search engines to perceive you :)
