View Full Version : It's not what you might think...

Hey I really agreed wholeheartedly with volybal3's posting answering why many people fail at affiliate marketing.
After all, it's not what you might think...I mean this idea of creating financial independence by acquiring an online income stream and putting together a winning business plan to succeed online with internet marketing!
Many folks come into this arena with the mistaken idea that it should be easy as so many online shysters has hyped it all up to be. Don't fall for the 'easy squeezy' offers that abound without end over the net!
Realize that you will need an education online for what matters most in succeeding toward your goal of creating an online income and that it will take time, money and effort since it is worth all of that to you if you understand it right.
So what does matter most in succeeding to your goal online? To answer this question, look at this way...
What are you all about?
If your goal online attaches itself to who you truly are, then that's staying on course with your purpose and mission in life...isn't this true? I mean you have to follow true north to stay on course and to remain true to your purpose and goals.
So...
Time, effort and money are all necessary ingredients to this process. And don't forget the valuable mistakes you can expect to make along your way as mistakes bring you closer to your objectives. Don't they?
Think about it. Whenever you undertook a course of learning some subject in school, weren't you given homework? Weren't you given a series of problems to solve each step of the way?
Sure...mistakes and problems you should expect to encounter along the way are there by design! I mean it...they exist by design because any attempt at success will require learning and learning comes by experiencing problems which need solving. And as you encounter these problems which need solving, you will make mistakes and thereby learn by those mistakes. Make sense?
"Don't pay the price. Enjoy the price!" Zig Ziggler
So here's the deal....
You are not alone. There are those who have gone before you and they have already made the mistakes you will be making in your journey to succeeding on the net. The really smart folks choose to learn from others while the proud, stubborn individual will have to learn painfully from their mistakes repeatedly and take longer to achieve their goals.
Therefore...
I thank you volybal3 for your post and for putting it all into proper perspective for those of us willing to learn from others like yourself!
See you all at the top!
Sincerely,
-Pilgrim

Ok, so I was fishing all day and I'm a bit sun burned... however, despite the burning skin, I will like to say this.
Since the last post was great! And because it ended on a quote, I will like to share one as well...
"Failure is just a stepping-stone in your path" - (source... can't remember :) )
Really think about this... let me know what you guys think about it.

Awesome post!! Failure is what you make it to be. I do not feel I fail, but gain more knowledge as I overcome the hurdles set before me. :)

Great post - for one minute i thought i was reading a squidoo lens or an ezine article :)
And in line with the ending off with a quote:
"The majority of men meet with failure because of their lack of persistance in creating new plans to take place of those which fail"

For me there is no failure, only feedback. "If you don't get what you want change the way about doing it." It helped me a lot to look a obstacles this way, and it helps me still to be persistent, and stay focused. Great post, thanks, Pilgrim (Love your bible quotes!)

Hey Pilgrim! Outstanding Post! For me this is what many people that "fail" don't seem to understand.
It took me years to change my thinking about failure and mistakes and the whole succeeding thing. I have a drywall business that I run from home and it is a constant struggle to help people that would like to make a change or succeed at something to actually get them to think differently, especially when they are frustrated. I've always tried to hire people that wanted to start a business and do more than just a job but helping them to begin to change their thinking is diffucult. That seems to be the make or break point for most people. When things are not going your way, how do you handle it?
That's that main difference I see in people that have "made it" and the ones that are still working on it. That's not implying that I've "made it." Sometimes it's a struggle to stay positive and overcome obstacles but I never give up. Some people call me stubborn. I see it differently.
Hope this makes sense and doesn't sound too preachy. It's not meant that way. It's important to me to help people make their lives better and the first step is to change the thinking pattern.
Online income is still a business and being realistic about it helps alleviate the myths. It takes lots of work and lots of time.
I don't have a quote but these are two that I repeat often to myself.
Success happens at the point when everyone else gives up...and you don't.
Know Thyself!

Wow! Ditto to all you expressed in your response. Too many people in the marketplace lack the tenacity and drive. The lack the 'emotional quotient'. Therefore they look for instant results not realizing that the law of sowing and harvesting is always at work.
It is what separates us Americans from the Japanese way of growing a business. Sure have a lot to say about all of this but I should stop for now as I don't have the fruit on my tree yet.
Thanks for your input. You are appreciated!

Hey, us South African are a tenacious bunch too you know! We have to deal with elephants and lions :o
We may just be behind about 6 months on the TV programs though :(
Think of my Dad - now that man was an entrepeneur of note! And he always said to me:
"Cream always rises to the top and you my girl are the cream of the crop"
How's that for inspiration :p

Lions and elephants are both at the top of the food chain. Personally I choose the lion over all animals for it's courage and noble appearance. There is also the Lion of Judah.
South Africans are a tenacious bunch then. OK I believe you and congratulate you for your tenacity.
Here's a great truism to consider:
"Average...what does that exactly mean?"
Meaning of Average:
Best of the worst & worst of the best.
So who wants average?
Thx Ziggy for your input. You are appreciated!

Ziggy Zoo - you have a wise father! And cream doesn't rise to the top all at once but gradually. It all takes time.
