Hi I am new here and I figured I'd introduce myself. I would just like to offer what I have discovered to be the best lifestyle in the world. Anyone who can read what I am writing and is a little adventurous can do it extremely easily....Teach English Overseas. I have spent the last 4 years teaching English in China. Now, I already love teaching, but I am staying here in China teaching because it is a lifestyle choice. I work 16 hours a week (including all out-of-cl*** preparation). I have an upper-middle cl*** income by Chinese standards and have tons of free time. I think most of the people here are looking for something along these lines so I figured I'd share it with those who didn't know about this opportunity. There is a HUGE demand for native English speakers, especially in Asia. It is very easy to find a job through the internet. That being said, teaching English overseas, usually requires a bachelor's degree and of course the ability to be somewhat adventurous and culturally open-minded. It has afforded me ample time to make money on the internet, travel, and learn a new language as well. For me, and I believe many others, this is the life and job we all dream about. Go to google or yahoo and start search for ESL in whatever country you are interested in and take advantage of the incredible luck we have of being native English speakers! Have fun and good luck!

Hi Dave,
Welcome to the community! I too am a new 'Junior Member'.

Sounds to me you have your ducks all in alignment with your chosen lifestyle. Great for you!

Thx for the tip on this opportunity. My wife and I already travel abroad on a yearly basis to the RPI, aka the Philippines but the need to teach English there is virtually non-existent as it is already an English speaking nation beginning from the entry-level to the highest levels of education.

What's life in China like though? And the Chineses are fast becoming if not already the largest economic power in the world. They are not a 3rd world country...Hong Kong is not what it used to be.

Capitalism thrived in Hong Kong under the Brits, but I just wonder how it is doing now that the Brits have returned it to China.

God is good all the time man!

God bless you! By the way, have you ever heard or read anything on "The China Inland Mission" founded by Hudson Taylor? Just curious...if so, what do you know about it today in China?

Hi Dave,

After reading the title of your post I was not at all expecting this thread. That is awesome! China is such an emerging economic force and is one of those places that any world traveler will tell you is a must see. That is fantastic that you seized the opportunity and are now living comfortably and enjoying your lifestyle.

Warm regards,

TSF

I lived in Singapore for almost 10 years, and was paid so much more money for being a psychotherapist/counsellor there. I'm now living in Australia, and really want/need to make an extra income for myself. I'm happy for you that you can lead the lifestyle that you want, and I miss Singapore very much in this respect.

Have never been to China but have been overseas. A friend in college went to Japan to teach English. He loved it and said that he would return after graduation. Have lost tough with him but could safely guess that he followed up with his desire. Someday hope to start traveling every year to increase my knowledge and further open my mind. However, need to make some extra money first. And that's why I am working online.
