In order to be successful at anything, you have to build a foundation, whether it be physical or mental.
On the physical side, you might have to take control of you spending, watch how much you save, and overall how you handle your money. You may need to create a budget to make sure your expenses never exceed your income.
On the mental side of change, you may need to understand that the way you think about money determines how easy or hard it is for you to get to it.
Think about this... I bet you probably think about money the same way your parents thought about money. If they thought money was always scarce and hard to get, you probably think the same way. If your parents thought that they never had enough money, you probably think the same way too.
Because your beliefs about money can help or hinder you financial foundation, let's take a look at some common money destroying myths that can keep people from true wealth.
Ever heard people say, "Money is the root of all evil"? I am sure you have, but guess what? They are wrong! The entire Biblical quote is, "The love of money is the root of all evil." So money itself isn't the of evil, but the way people react to money can, for lack of a better word, become evil. See the difference? If you read the quotation correctly, you will see that evil stems from the love of money. But if you misinterpret the quote, you will mistakenly think that money is evil.
If you see money as something evil, guess how you will treat money in your own life? Do you want evil in your life? Probably not, which means you will do everything you can to keep evil out of your life, which can include keeping money out of your life!
Can you see how negative thoughts and beliefs about money can influence how you will handle money without even realizing it?
You can say, "I don't think money is evil at all. In fact, I will take a whole bunch of it please." That's great, but if you don't have enough money now, you have to change your life so you change the way you handle money, both physically and mentally.
If you change only the way you handle money, you might still fall back on your old money habits if you don't change your thinking about money too. Likewise, if you change only your thoughts about money but don't convert those thoughts into action, you still won't have money.
Only when you change both your physical and mental habits about money can you change the amount of money you will allow into your life. If you really want more money in your life, you just have to change your beliefs about money. It's that simple!
