Hey fellow members,
You know as simple as Kim has made the course section on the effective use of Keywords, I still find it challenging to implement.
Let me explain...
The goal is to find those keywords which are shown in the Google Keyword Tool as not having been saturated with use over the net; and then incorporating the same into your title as well as your article. My problem is actually finding those scant keywords with those conditions. I have not found any to incorporate.
Can anyone shed some light on the selection and proper and effective use of keywords?
Looking for your helpful tips!
Thx,
-Dan

Please also remember anything about the MOIS action plan should be directed back to that forum. Thank you! :)

Hi Pilgrim,
Keyword research can be tough and is the key to traffic on any level. Everyone has their own different ways that they go about searching for keywords and perhaps I do it a little backwards. What I will normally do is sit down and start putting every phrase that I can think of (that relates to my article, blog etc) in google, in quotes. Once I get a list of about ten of them that have 5000 or less pages, I put them into google keyword tool to find the ones with the best traffic.
Most people start the other way around with the keyword tool being the first step in the process. Keyword research is really important but can take a while to master. I still struggle with it.
Any other processes out there that are working for others?

Here's the process I use that I learned in a webinar many moons ago:
Type in a broad phrase in the google keyword tool. Write down every related phrase (that you can imagine relating to your niche) that has at least 1,000, but less than 20,000 searches a month. I write them all down (or copy to excel).
I then try to reword or vary the top traffic phrase and do the same thing.
I do that over and over again until I have at least 120-150 phrases.
Then I go to google search and type allintitle: "phrase" for every phrase. Any that has less than 25,000 pages gets a star. Any that has less than 500 gets 2 stars.
I then do a general search on any with 2 stars. If it's mostly articles, it goes on my list as a keyword I can use. If it's mostly big sites, like Amazon or the IRS, it gets crossed off and I move on.
What works for me is to spend 2 or 3 hours doing nothing but keyword research. I found it too inefficient to try to think of a phrase, do the searches, then write an article. This way, I have a list of keyword phrases I can review the next morning and craft articles around.
Hope this helps. Good luck.

Wow!! Its nice to see what others are using in finding there keywords/phrases. I think I have tried almost every way possible and still struggle at times as most do.
I like to search for my keyphrases and then use them in the search with "allintitle" and "inanchor". This will bring up results showing if that keyword is in the title or text. :)
