Hi Everyone,
I wanted to add a note here about securing your networks and the importance of good p***words. I sat down with a friend of mine who is the webmaster of a big local website and is the network security manager of a military contracting agency in town.
He showed me just how easy it is for someone that knows what they are doing to hack into your network, see the pages that you are viewing and can ultimately obtain your p***words to your accounts. Trust me it was scary! In about 5 minutes he was able to show me everyone on my network, what they were viewing, and the packets of information they were transferring. He also showed me how someone could ultimately capture your p***words.
He also said that it is important not to use the same p***words for your social marketing/ affiliate sites as you do your banking, bills, etc. It is a lot easier to hack your p***words from a site like facebook, then say bank of America. What hackers will do is get the p***words for the easier sites and then apply them to your banking sites to see if they are the same.
P***words should be 8-15 alpha numeric characters and if you can incorporate a symbol that makes them harder to crack.
It was a pretty eye opening experience sitting down with this guy and I thought I would share. So secure that network connection and make use those p***words are complex!
Cheers,
TSF
