I use ezines, goarticles, and articlesbase primarily for submitting articles but I was wondering... is it bad to submit the exact same article to more than one directory? If I submit the same article to ezines and goarticles will it affect the "uniqueness" and take away page rank? Do any of you submit the exact same articles or do you try and mix them up a bit?

People do this, but you risk the chance of the search engines knocking you out for duplicate content. It is wise to change up your article at least 30-40%. You can use a tool like www.dupefreepro.com (http://www.dupefreepro.com) to check this.
Keep us posted on your progress. :)

To stay in the good graces of ranks, it is best to write each article as unique. There are many different ways that you can rewrite your articles. You have the FAQ format, 'Wh' questions, bullets, etc.
As mentioned by Mod 1, try rewriting your article and compare them in the dupefreepro. The great thing about using this site, is you are able to see what needs to be changed and can change it within the site itself :)

In the past I submit the same article in different places but I notice that the articles had no good page rank att Google. So my suggestion is to write Unique content to each article.

How are you able to track specifically where each article ranks with Google?

This can be done by putting quotes around your keyword/phrase in the search. You can also find it without the quotes but it is a wider variety of how the keyword has been used.:)

This is also another neat little tool to use: Google Page Rank Checker: http://www.prchecker.info/

This is a great tool to use also. Keep in mind that it has recently been updated also. Follow the guidelines if you experience any difficulties with the use of it. :)

I've seen this briefly explained in forums, but I'm really hoping to get some further direction because I feel totally lost.
I know that Ezine won't accept hoplinks in articles for affililate marketing, but I don't know how to change it in order to make it acceptable. Please help!
I heard about link cloaking ... is this the best option? Thanks ahead of time for your help!

With ezine you will need to provide a link back to your website, lens, blog, ads etc. They will reject your article if you try to add in an affiliate link. Once you direct the viewer to your designated site, you will have the affiliate link provided for the customer to click on.
Ezine also only allows up to two links within your bio/authors/resource box. Here is a great post provided by one of MMOF's members.

To learn how to use anchor text:
Make sure that you are using this html code in order to make this clickable:
<a href="http://squidoo.com/YourLens">How To Make A Blog</a>
("How to make a Blog" will be the only thing visable to the viewer)
The search engines (Google) will notice this and your links pointing to your sites - make sure the link and the title relate to each other. You will usually put your anchor text in the last paragraph or bio/resource box.
Let us know if we can help you further :)

melou123,
Ezine doesn't allow direct affiliate links, but there is a way around this. There is a way to make it so anyone who clicks a link in your ezine articles will be directed straight to your affiliate page with hop. Here's how:
1. Go to Godaddy and get a ".info" domain name. Their 89 cents a year.
2. In the domain settings from Godaddy, pick your domain and choose forwarding.
3. In the forwarding URL copy your clickbank hoplink. There's even a "masking" option so that when people go to your site, they can't see the hop=....
That's it. Now you can use your godaddy domain name in ezine articles and it's 100% legal. I've done this now for a few clickbank products and it's working great. Let me know if you have other questions on this.

Great input Jeremya! Yes, this is also another way with ezine. If using this process, try making your domain name using a keyword for that product you are promoting :)

Just cloaking your link will not do it, so the option of making your blog your own by getting a domain and hosting will do the trick. It is cheap enough that it will not break the bank either.
MakeMuchMoney3 - glad that tool is helping you! :)

That is the idea! Don't worry if it does not show up for some reason, it may be in the process of being reindexed or something. Google has it's spiders crawling the web for any new or updated information. :)

What I usually do if I intend to submit articles on one topic to multiple directories is to submit the first one to Ezine Articles. The reason is they are the most strict and may reject your article if they see the exact same text somewhere else. They like originality. Then, instead of copying the article to the other sites, I simply write a new article without going back and looking at the old one. That way, even though it may be similar, it's not exactly the same. It takes a little more time than copying, but I think it'll result in better search engine results.

That is actually a very good strategy Andy. Just make sure that you change up your articles at least 30% or better before submitting to other submission sites. (You don't want to get slapped by Google for duplicate content.)
You can use a tool like www.DupeFreePro.com (http://www.DupeFreePro.com) in order to ***ist you with this. :)

Great information you provided Andy! Sometimes this technique can be hard to do for some.
The best part about working online is you have all the information at your finger tips. If you get stuck while writing, go read a few of the top articles and get different perspectives. This can normally trigger a new idea for you to grow off of:)

You can look up finance articles in the search engine or even in the Ezine Articles directory. Are you looking for something more specific?
